It’s a touch belated now but nevertheless, Happy New Year everybody!
We trust that you all enjoyed a fine festive period and, with a week or so of normality under your belts, you have managed to blow away the cobwebs of 2016 and are ready to hit the ground running with the year ahead.
Last year will be looked back upon with mixed feelings for many given the bewildering political landscape shifts, both across the pond and here on our own shores. Also there were the sad, high profile, losses from the world of entertainment which left an air of mournfulness not really felt so strongly before. Understandably, we leave 2016 with a slightly bitter taste – but not all was bad!
Closer to home, here at Farm Factory HQ we actually closed off last year on a high #HumbleBrag
Don’t get us wrong, we had our ups and downs, as all do, but all in all 2016 was something of a milestone year for the Farm Factory. Last year was our first full year in our new, converted barn office. Having transitioned from a spare bedroom to our own space, we can now call the barn our home. Our clientele grew, both in numbers and, in many respects, stature. We’ve continued to work with a number of exciting start-ups as well as develop strong working relationships with well-established firms which together have enhanced our portfolio no end.
Growing clientele meant a growing workload which brought with it added stresses at times whilst the team powered through projects. Being too busy is definitely nothing to complain about for a growing business but does come with its pros and cons as things are juggled accordingly.
The office had grown, the clientele had grown, it was time for the team to grow!
During the final quarter of last year we hit a brief pause on things and drew breath. It had become necessary to take stock and evaluate how best to improve the team, our practices and distribute the workload better. From that in-house review we are pleased to announce that the team has grown substantially with 3 very capable new members. With our new arrivals on board it has helped greatly with all current ongoing work but more importantly they help solidify a platform that better equips us for the future!
First to join was Gail, our new project manager. Gail has come in and helped orchestrate better workflow within the team and is establishing herself as the go-between the team here and the client. She is here to keep projects moving at the desired pace on both sides.
Hot on the heels of Gail was Andy. A talented developer in his own right, Andy has come in to take ownership of our site maintenance packages and offer support to our web and hosting clients.
Many existing clients will have looked to Tom in the past with any such queries but Andy is now your go-to guy. In addition to site maintenance he will also be part of the development team and involved in building new sites.
Just a note about Tom; don’t worry, he’s still here and hasn’t been replaced. Andy’s arrival has meant that Tom can dedicate his time to design work as well as manage Google Adword campaigns for our clients.
Last, but not least, on our first day back in the new year we welcomed Hector to the helm. Hector is our new lead web developer and arrives with strong site backend knowledge which will complement the more prominent frontend skillset our team already possesses. His experience and guidance will help improve the development team on a whole meaning the standards and quality of work that we offer will continue to improve.
Squad goals are well and truly met! Collectively, the Farm Factory team is now stronger than ever and we’re both excited and well prepped to hit 2017 full on with all that you throw at us.
We wish you all a successful and prosperous new year ahead and look forward to working with you.
